www.sripraphairestaurant.comI was so excited about the opening of this new thai restaurant located on Hillside Ave just west of Mineola Blvd because I thought it would be a nice change of pace from the many diners and pizzerias that surround it. However I was more than disappointed with the food and the service. The staff was curt and often neglected our table even though the place was not busy. Though I must say our appetizers, fried egg rolls and chicken curry puffs served with a cucumber salad were tasty and brought out promptly. For an entrée I ordered Panang curry with tofu and vegetables. I was surprised that on the menu it was labeled with an asterisk for being hot and spicy because I have had that curry at many places and it has never been too hot to handle, but just in case I asked the waiter to make my dish mild. Everyone’s entree at our table came out except for one, even after reminding the waiter several times his food was not brought out until everyone else was finished with their meal. My panang curry was so spicy it was inedible. When I mentioned this to the waiter and possibly the chef he simply said, “That is how I make it.” He never offered to remake it or bring me something else, and found out later it was not taken off the bill. Since my meal obviously did not satisfy me I attempted to order the mango with sticky rice that was listed on the dessert menu, but was disappointed again when I was told they did not have it. I would not return to this place.
