Joyful House

by Brock Radke

Joyful House
4601 Spring Mountain Road
Las Vegas NV 89102
(702) 889-8881

This Hong Kong-style restaurant has long been a favorite of locals and tourists alike, but the tell tale sign is its popularity with the Vegas Asian community. The dining room is bright and simple and attention is usually focused on a blackboard containing the day’s unique specials. Fresh seafood dominates much of the menu, and diners also can try out the cook-it-at-your-own-table, shabu shabu-style experience.

OSTERIA DEL CIRCO
At Bellagio
3600 Las Vegas Blvd. South, Las Vegas NV 89109
(702) 693-8150

Dress well and make reservations in advance if you want to dine at one of the Strip’s most elegant restaurants, Italian or otherwise. The Maccioni family’s Tuscan-influenced outpost at the Bellagio, overlooking the spectacular water show at the resort’s huge lake, has managed to maintain its reputation of upscale mood, top flight service and distinct flavors with a decidedly home-cooked touch, such as hot and cold antipasti selections, thin crust pizzas baked in a clay oven, handmade pastas and a peerless rack of lamb.

HASH HOUSE A GO GO

HASH HOUSE A GO GO
6800 W. Sahara Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89146
(702) 804-4646
The down home country feel to the Hash House A Go Go grabs you from the time you pull into the parking lot.  The exterior is decked out in tin barn siding and the outside dining area has large wooden beams overhead.  Once inside the atmosphere is exciting.  The menu is fun to read and a delight to try.  There are many interesting choices with a wide variety.  Whether you are in the mood for fish (grilled halibut) or vegetables (butternut squash) or something more adventurous (wild boar sloppy joe) the portions will be large and made from scratch.Â

EIFFEL TOWER RESTAURANT

If a Paris getaway is out of the question this year, take that special Valentine to Eiffel Tower Restaurant at Paris Las Vegas for the finest modern French dining this side of the Atlantic. Chef J. Joho’s culinary handiwork includes marine Peekey toe crab salad with avocado and cucumber, tournedos Rossini with foie gras and truffle sauce, and white chocolate banana Elysee for dessert. The menu is a la carte but a seven-course meal can be advised by gracious waiters who attend every need. The most enchanting part? An eleventh floor view of the spectacular Bellagio water fountain show.

Dragon Sushi

DRAGON SUSHI

Consider it Sushi 101. This is a great place for the sushi novice because the dishes are simple and don’t require too big a risk, and it just goes to show that basic can be blissful. The entrees are simple and allow you to try the essentials: California roll (crab, avocado, cucumber, and rice), Kappa Maki (cucumber and rice), and Tekka Maki (tuna and rice). Sushi tends to be quite expensive, especially if you crave a variety of tastes for your meal, but Dragon offers reasonable prices and good lunch specials.
