In restaurant row in the Recoletta close to the Recoletta Cemetery lies Lola. A beautiful modern elegant restaurant with marble floors, celebrity pictures on the walls, and a spiral staircase leading to the restrooms. There are also lots of tables outside which is nice option on a warm evening. You will be given commentary homemade bread sticks, crackers, and bread with a cream cheese onion spread. I could have just eaten that with the wine and had a marvelous dinner. But there was more to come. Lola is well renowned for having the best steaks in town. The steaks are very flavorful with a delicious oiled based spicy dipping sauce. The duck cooked twice with cherries is also a mouth watering choice. They also have a very extensive wine list. We chose a Norton Malbec which was superb for 90 pesos ($30 US). The avocado salad is a visual delight served in a spiral of avocados, mushrooms and lettuce. We went for a dual birthday celebration and we were treated to complimentary glasses of champagne and a decadent chocolate frosted brownie with a creamy marshmallow smore topping. The wine was so good we asked for the label and they pasted it to the inside of a Lola card. A very nice touch. I would highly recommend this for a special occasion or just a great dinner out.
